The U.S. Mint had not issued a Quarter since 1930, as the demand for Quarters was greatly diminished by the onset of the Great Depression. In 1932, as a tribute to George Washington, the first American president, a new Quarter was issued as a commemorative. Clad Washington Quarters: Minted 1965 until the end of the series in 1998.
Silver Proof Quarters: Minted 1950 to 1964 and in 1976; and from 1992 to 1998.
