These 90% Silver 1939-D and 1940-D Mercury Dimes are two great examples of the Mercury Dime series, also referred to as the Winged Liberty Dimes. The obverse depicts Liberty in a winged cap, often mistaken to be the male god Mercury. The reverse features a bundle of rods with a Roman battle ax known as "Fasces."
