The 1938 D/D Buffalo Nickel, slabbed by NGC (Numismatic Guaranty Corporation), is a notable variety of the last year of Buffalo Nickels, featuring a re-punched mint mark where the "D" from the Denver Mint was stamped twice. This error, visible under magnification, makes the coin particularly interesting to collectors.
