Obsolete Nickel and Silver Three Cent Pieces

    Minted 1851 to 1889

The obsolete Three Cent Piece is an exciting early American denomination, minted over enough years, including the entire Civil War years, to make this series an exciting challenge. Additionally, this series was struck in both silver and nickel, depending on the year, and there are Proof issues for many years. All were struck at Philadelphia, except for the year 1851 when coins were also struck at New Orleans and have an –O- mintmark placed on the reverse. Complete the entire series, or choose both a nickel and silver issue for your Type Set. This list changes constantly. If you don’t see what you need, please check back.

Silver Three Cent Piece: Minted 1851 to 1873.

Nickel Three Cent Pieces: Minted 1865 to 1889.
