Minted 1796 to 1807:This earliest Type depicted a small eagle on the reverse for the first 2 years, with the heraldic eagle on the reverse for the remainder of the series.
Minted 1809 to 1837: For this series, the bust of Lady Liberty is wearing a liberty cap. There are numerous die varieties, making this an interesting and challenging series to complete.
This coin, ordered by invoice 144595 was to be a "gem brilliant proof." The coin I received was not any kind of proof, and as a mere uncirculated coin, it was in none too pretty condition. I'll be way more careful about ordering from Mt. Vernon in the future.
The coins arrived two days earlier than expected. Upon inspection of the coins, I found small damage on the backs of each coin. I was hoping for better brilliant uncirculated. Other than they are beautiful coins that arrived fast.
